The borough

Our neighbourhood, Città Giardino (Garden City) is very much people friendly. And this is still its charm, a space in a big city like Rome that seems to be part of a small paradise. Full of Art Nouveau villas, the district maintains the charm of the twentieth century that characterizes some of the central areas of the city, but paying attention to human dimensions that are typical only to this area of Rome.

Emerging in the early years of the last century as a neighbourhood completely immersed in natural surroundings, Città Giardino is now part of the large borough of Monte Sacro, which features in documents from the Roman Empire under the name of Mons Sacer.

In 494 BC the Sacred Mount was setting for the Roman plebeians’ rebellion, they took refuge there before they were brought to order by Senator Menenius Agrippa with the famous fable about social order and the human body. Today, it is a little gem, away from the city’s traffic and noise.

A stone’s throw from the Spaghetti in the Family school you will find a favorite local landpoint: the Holy Water source. In one of the many quiet, tree-lined streets you will find dozens of taps with continuously flowing fresh water. You can drink a glass of cold water or you can fill your own bottles to take away for a few cents per liter.

The Holy Water is primed for its natural fizz and diuretic and digestive qualities. A fundamental final step after tasting the “taste of home” of our “School of Italian Cuisine”!
